Our History
While attending college in Mississippi, our founder, Pedro Castro, faced an urgent medical situation when he was diagnosed with appendicitis. Unsure of whether he could trust the local healthcare providers and without enough time to research his options, he decided to rely on the care that was readily available. As a visitor in a foreign country, he lacked friends and the necessary knowledge to make an informed decision. Thankfully, the treatment went well.
However, a few weeks later, he received a staggering medical bill of over $50,000. Despite having medical insurance, he still had to pay a substantial amount out of pocket over the years. Determined to avoid such a financial burden again, he began scheduling annual checkups and doctor visits in his home country during his trips back to see his family.
Over time, he realized that the quality of medical services in his home country was exceptional and significantly more affordable. Observing that the level of care in the USA seemed accessible only to the wealthy, this eye-opening experience inspired him to help others access the same high-quality care while protecting their finances.
In 2024, he founded MedicalBridge LLC in Memphis, Tennessee, with a vision to revolutionize the healthcare travel industry. Recognizing the growing demand for accessible and affordable healthcare services globally, our founder created a seamless platform to connect patients with world-class medical facilities and professionals across borders. Despite being a newly established company, MedicalBridge boasts over a decade of experience in connecting users with qualified healthcare providers.
